There she is, with both feet on the ground, her head still somewhere on the oceans. Six days after her arrival in the Vendée Globe – around the world solo – Clarisse Crémer embarked on a media marathon, with a detour through the locals of the “Parisien – Today in France”. The opportunity to find the one who every week kept a logbook in our columns.
She swapped her oilskin for brown velvet pants and a little blue sweater. Make-up, hair, the first woman of the Vendée Globe 2020 is dressed. “I did not take enough care of myself at sea”, estimates the one who completed her round-the-world trip in just over 87 days. She says she did not wash “between November 24 and January 12”. “The idea of spending energy to heat water and wash my hair was overwhelming me, I was in animal mode… Yet washing and changing allows you to punctuate the day. “
Off the Bay of Biscay she put her things away and washed her boat. “I sort of packed my bags. I had to slow down to let the depression pass. The Banque Populaire sailor has never been bored. She devoured a dozen novels, watched romantic comedies but rarely called those close to her “because hearing the voices can make you crack”. There were many technical problems. “I sometimes worked eight hours in a row on a repair. With fatigue, everything seems more complicated to you, suddenly you say that you will never succeed! At no time was she bored. “The first three days I thought I wasn’t going to survive this thing, but I never wondered what I was doing there. “
During the night from Saturday to Sunday, she was finally able to get back to sleep. “From 11 pm to 9 am, non-stop, like a child. Clarisse is going to take a break, take a vacation. And think about the rest and a possible new round the world.
