Solidarity has avoided the worst. A referee suffered a heart attack during a district match in Moselle on Sunday. But the official, aged about fifty, was saved in extremis thanks to the intervention of two spectators and two players who revived him.
Sunday, Farébersviller welcomes Creutzwald in the second division of the Moselle District. Everything goes normally until the end of the first half. The referee shows worrying signs of fatigue. He collapsed in the central circle, victim of cardiac arrest.
Two Farébersviller supporters, Mario Milioto and Mohamed Maameri placed behind the handrail, quickly realized the danger. They rush onto the pitch to help the referee. They perform cardiac massage while two players from Creutzwald, Florian Verderam and Yannick Muller, go to the locker room to get a defibrillator. By combining their efforts, the four anonymous everyday heroes manage to revive the man before the intervention of the firefighters who lead him as quickly as possible to the nearest hospital.
According to the latest information from our colleagues from France Blue, the referee seems this Monday out of the woods. However, he will have to undergo surgery: “There are things much more important than football and the club is pleased to have benevolent supporters”, welcomes the Farébersviller club on social networks.
