After his election in 1969, Georges Pompidou rehabilitated the “presidential hunts” within the Chambord estate, in Loir-et-Cher. Throughout the Fifth Republic, these elitist battles brought together politicians, diplomats, and even soldiers.
Jacques Chirac is the first to oppose this practice. But if its name and its funding change, in secret, this tradition continues. Even today, Emmanuel Macron takes part in hunting parties in the forest of Chambord.
For Code Source, Marcelo Wesfreid, journalist in the Political Service of the Parisian and author of the book “The secret garden of the Republic, 50 years of self-esteem”, published by Plon, tells the backstage of the hunts in Chambord, from Georges Pompidou to Emmanuel Macron.
