“She will become the best striker in the world. The compliment addressed to Marie-Antoinette Katoto is signed by Thierry Uvenard, the Havraises coach swept 5-0 by the serial goalscorer of PSG almost to herself. Moments earlier, on the field of the Camp des Loges, the 22-year-old nugget offered himself a quadruple – and an assist – to exceed the bar of 100 goals in the Parisian jersey, 103 exactly. A performance which earned him the honor of receiving a trophy from the hands of Nasser Al-Khelaïfi at the end of the meeting.
The president of PSG also invited him to the Parc des Princes, where Kylian Mbappé received the same trophy before PSG-OL for having also crossed the 100 goal mark.
What do these 100 goals represent with PSG?
MARIE-ANTOINETTE KATOTO. I am very happy. It’s a beautiful thing to score more than 100 goals with your training club. We also won a great victory which allows us to approach the rest of the championship well.
You have a lot to do with this victory. Did you want to leave your mark on this match?
What was most important to me was winning. My personal stats and individual trophies are not what I look at first. We were a little tough physically lately because we have a series of matches, between the championship, international meetings and the Champions League. But that was not seen today, we held on well. We have one last effort left before the holidays (Editor’s note: Champions League round of 16 second leg Wednesday).
Did it touch you that President Nasser Al-Khelaïfi came to hand you the club trophy?
It’s nice to see him at Camp des Loges. And not just for me, but for all the girls. Except for the big games, he doesn’t come often, but we don’t blame him at all because we know he’s very busy.
You still have a new point in common with Kylian Mbappé, to whom you are often compared. How do you live it?
He’s a great player who does exceptional things too. He has the future ahead of him and he will still achieve great things. He is a great striker from whom I am inspired. I hope he scores again tonight and the boys win.
Do you want to make club history?
Yes, this is my heart club. I hope we will manage to clinch a title this season. We have been making good progress for several years. It is falling into place and we hope to achieve our ends. But it is not finished. The hardest part is still ahead of us. After our victory against Lyon, we had to continue our momentum.
Do you feel like you’ve taken a step forward this year?
I feel pretty good. I am going to rest well during the holidays to start 2021 well. I am not relying on what I did over a half-season, it is at the end of the season that we can take stock.
